What Are Business Systems? Service Business Edition
When people hear the term "systems" in business, it can pull up all kinds of varied ideas and visions of complicated software stacks, automations that make your head spin, and lots of new things to "manage" as the business owner.
But the truth is, that as a service provider, you have only so much bandwidth. And if you desire to grow and run a truly sustainable business, you will need to develop systems and potentially have a small (or big) team supporting you over time as you scale.
As the business owner, founder and creative visionary for what you want to see happening in your business, there are absolutely some things that only YOU can do.
Like supporting clients in sessions, running workshops, presenting a keynote speech, or even ideating your next course, offer, or content.
But so many experts and service providers get so bogged down in the tasks and acts of running a business that are NOT in your wheelhouse, that it can feel like you barely have time or bandwidth for actually serving clients or being in your zone of genius.
After working with 100's of small business owners (specifically service providers), I have seen how easy it is to become a bottleneck in business. But if you can create business systems, you can allow for a season for more sustainable business growth.
There is an art and a skillset to seeing what can be done by others (automated, delegated, or done by AI or software), and how they all fit together to buy back more of your time and energy.
In this episode I go through the 6 Pillars of Systems in my Well Built Business Method, and how each of them plays a part (over time) to creating sustainability in your business, so that you can avoid burnout and continue to love what you do and thrive in a new season of expansion.
